Don't Forget the Closet!

Never underestimate the power of well organized shoes and handbags. When Decorator in a Box designs a space I keep the closets in mind. Having a well designed closet frees up space and sometimes eliminates furniture you don't even need. I have done away with entire dressers just by making better use of the closet. My secret weapon is The Container Store. Yes, it is true The Container Store makes me look good by creating great custom closet designs. Here are a few recent www.mydiab.com bedroom designs showing how closets make the most of a small space. Contact Decorator in a Box for not only a space design, but also organized shoe and hang bag bliss.

Stylish Ground

Art does not always need to hang on the wall. It can come in the form of an area rug and be displayed on the floor. On some projects Decorator in a Box will start from the ground up. It is key to find that perfect area rug to anchor the room. When you find that special floor Picasso all the rest will fall into place. Below are some of my favorite floor art resources. These rugs will have you walking on stylish and creative ground.

Vintage Dictionary and Map Illustrations

I love these vintage dictionary and map illustrations. They can be found on Etsy at littlebluebird studios. Decorator in a Box has used them in several designs. They seem to work well with many different styles. The best part is they are only $8-$10 for an 8x10 size print. Just add a frame an vuala you have fun affordable art for your home!

I Heart Thomas Paul

Thomas Paul has been popping up in my world a lot these days. He knows how to make my job fun and easy. If I need that pop of color while staying on budget he is always there. He reupholsters that trashy chair and makes it a classy chair. He is like a helpful husband that puts the pillows on the bed and helps with the dishes. I am always bumping into him whether I am at Target running an errand or pulling fabrics at Duralee. I wish I could say he is exclusive to me and my trade, but he shares his love with the public. That is why he works so well with Decorator in a Box. I can include him in a MyDiab design and send the client on their way to shopping bliss. There is no doubt that life is a little brighter with a friend like Thomas Paul. Here are a few ways you can bring Thomas into your life.

Thomas Paul fabrics and more can be purchased at Duralee (trade only), Calico Corners, Velocity Art and Design , Joanne Fabrics and Anthropologie.

Blue is the Bomb!

Even though blue is considered a cool and calming color there is no question it is hot right now. We see it in all those adorable summer rompers and it has definitely arrived in interior trends. Blue is the number one color requested by Decorator in a Box clients and they are very stylish individuals. It makes a wonderful accent and pop of color in a neutral space. Best of all everyone seems to look great in blue. Why not look and feel great lounging on it. If you want to make blue even more wonderful just add a dash of Magenta if you can be so bold. This can be done with a simple throw blanket, rug or even a chandelier. Once you incorporate indigo, navy, turquoise, ink or royal into your space it will not have you feeling blue. I guarantee you will feel calm cool and collected.
