Etsy Fanfare

Here is a design tip to send you on your weekend. Quickly add a whimsical fanfare to a children's space or party with fabric bunting. Bunting instantly takes a space to playful in a homespun way. I like to find fabric bunting banners on Etsy. I found this great Etsy shop happy little cottage.  Among other adorable things in her shop she has a nice selection of bunting banners in cute fabric combos. You can see below in some of the children's spaces I have designed how to incorporate this into your space. Happy Weekend All! Xo ~ Annie

Baths I Gush Over

Most of my clients contact me for Family Rooms and Bedrooms. I think people forget that I can help them with their bath and kitchen remodels too. I can mail you tile and plumbing samples and selections the same way I can mail furniture and fabrics to you. That's why I was excited when a customer contacted me to design two bathrooms. Oh how I love the tile store and selecting bath hardware. Tile and plumbing can be artwork....really! I always start a design with a little inspiration. Here are some baths I found to gush over. Stay tuned for the design reveal. Xo ~ Annie

5 Ways to Fallorize Decor

I love a cluster of pumpkins and gourds on the front stoop as much as the next person. I think it has become our "go-to" fall decor for interiors. Everyone receives their Fall Pottery Barn catalog and copies page 8 clustering pumpkins and gourds throughout the home. I think there is a different way to decorate for fall or "fallorize" your decor. With these 5 steps you won't need to display a single pumpkin or gourd... except when junior brings home an art project from school (in that case..what a sweet little gourd). Here it is 5 pumpkinless fall decor tips.

Step 1. Fill a tall glass vase with water and  long branches from your tree outside....viola centerpiece. photo via dominomag.com

Step 2. Add cozy texture accents with a wool blanket or sweater pillow. Think fall textures and add a pop of it to your sofa, chair or bed. photo of blanket via pendleton-usa.com & pillow via findingfabulousblog.com/

Step 3. Mix in vintage or rustic accents to your decor. This can be done with a stack of  vintage suitcases as a hall table or towels rolled up in a distressed bucket in your bathroom. photo via apartmenttherapy.com

Step 4. Replace your cracked or chipped staple mug with a "special" mug. One that makes that cup of cocoa taste oh so much better. of course...mugs via anthropologie.com

Step 5. Bring in the aroma of fall with a cented candle in a spicey scent and amber color. photo of candle via anthropologie.com

Follow these  easy steps and you are on your way to enjoy another lovely season. Happy fallorizing! Xo ~ Annie

Far East Emerald

Anyone who knows me knows I love a little bit of the Far East mixed into any space. According to the latest issue of Elle Decor the Far East is making it's way from cat walk into your home. In my opinion if Elle Decor says it I get on board, because they know wassup! The truth is Asian may be a new trend in larger doses, but it has always been relivent in interior design. Asian fabric, rugs and casegoods always make for great design. I usually add Far East flare with accent pieces, but when I saw this emerald Asian fabric by Schumacher I realized I would like floor to ceiling drapery panels. Forget Asian accents I want wall to wall pinch pleated treatments of this gem of a textile! Have a great weekend all and Happy Decorating! Xo ~ Annie

Top 6 World Market Picks

World Market has come a long way from it's signature prefab Asian antique style. They are making affordable furniture that has styles from different regions. It has taste, character and can mix nicely with modern or traditional homes. I also love that I can get my favorite wine, snacks or a fun chunky necklace in one stop. Here are my Top 6 Picks at WM right now! Xo ~ Annie

Studio City Design

I just wrapped up a design with a really fun and creative client. Her name is Sonny and she is a voice talent from Coast to Coast. You may have heard her on your local news promo... you can hear her at www.sonnywarner.com . I had a great time designing her Studio City, CA living space. Sonny lives and breaths her work. She also needs to be ready for her clients at a moments notice. The mission was to create a room that she can work, relax and even get a quick workout in. The style is modern and comfortable. See what Decorator in a Box came up with below. Happy Decorating! Xo ~ Annie
